Self-Led September & Eclipse Season Horoscopes: An Internal Family Systems + Art Therapy approach to navigating uncertainty
Suggestions for staying curious, creative, and compassionate through eclipse season
A little bit about the Pisces - Virgo energy this Eclipse Season:
Virgo Season began on August 22nd, inviting us into a time of processing, sorting, and digesting the ideas and inspiration we've been gathering. Like the careful analyst that Virgo embodies, we're called to examine what we've absorbed and determine what serves our growth and what needs to be released.
This month is also Eclipse Season, with eclipses activating the Pisces-Virgo axis—an invitation to balance our receptivity with our discernment. The Pisces energy asks us to get creative about how we absorb energy and information, while Virgo reminds us that healthy boundaries allow us to be more present in this world.
This dialogue between Pisces and Virgo teaches us that spiritual sensitivity without earthly pragmatism leaves us overwhelmed, while practical analysis without intuitive guidance leaves us disconnected.
And, with this dialogue, eclipses often bring with them a wobbly feeling. Either something surprising happens and knocks us out of our rhythm, or we choose to pivot in an unexpected way.
Key eclipse dates:
🌕 Sunday, September 7 — Lunar Eclipse in Pisces
🌑 Sunday, September 21 — Solar Eclipse in Virgo
(Eclipse “season” is felt Sept 1–28).
And this is where Self-Led September comes in:
We want to remind you, eclipses aren’t anything to be scared of! The wobbliness can be unsettling, or potentially setting you up for something life changing!? Whatever unfolds in your own chart, we’re here to offer you some recalibration in the form of navigating September from SELF.
What exactly does that mean? To be Self - led means leading from a place of calm, curiosity, courage, creativity and so many more qualities that remind you to get back to center- that you can handle it all from this adult self.
We will send some encouraging prompts each week to help you access more Self energy, kind of like a scavenger hunt for each element to find new ways to embody Self.
How to Use These Horoscopes
Each rising sign forecast is structured in three parts:
Questions to be curious about — eclipse seasons often stir old fears and unexpected change. Curiosity keeps us led by Self, not by frantic parts.
Get creative on how you are absorbing — Pisces invites playful experimentation in how we take in energy and experience.
Suggestions for digestion — Virgo reminds us to process, integrate, and release so that nothing lingers as stuck energy.
These practices are designed to help you stay anchored in the 8 C’s of Self energy: Calmness, Curiosity, Clarity, Compassion, Confidence, Courage, Creativity, and Connectedness.
Before we get to the Rising Sign horoscopes for this season, here are a couple quick announcements:
On September 5, 2025 at 1pm PT, Chelsea is leading a free live Q+A for anyone considering becoming a therapist. Let her save you precious time and money on this long (and worth it!) journey. REGISTER for the call here — the recording will be sent out for those not able to attend live.
For those applying to grad programs in counseling: Chelsea Owens pulled together a deeeeeep dive into all the practical elements of this decision, for the price of a cute cafe lunch ($25) — follow this link: https://chelseawow.gumroad.com/l/bfbiau
Do you also love making deep friendships through book-clubbing? We want to start a “Novels of Manners” Book Club, starting with Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Message us if you’re interested in joining a slow book club!
Each of the following horoscopes were written with the planetary energies in mind and inspired by Chelsea Owens ’ soon-to-be-released oracle deck called Outer Realms for Inner Archives.

Why horoscopes are best read for your Rising Sign: Go deeper here.
Virgo Rising: You're between two worlds. In one you can hear only what's in the physical world, what's around you. In the other you can hear something higher.
Questions to be curious about — What parts of you have been trying to speak but haven't found the right words yet? Notice if there's a critical voice that edits everything—what is this protector trying to keep safe? What would it feel like to trust that the "right" words will come without forcing them?
Get creative on how you are absorbing — Create a "frequency journal"—tune into different "stations" each morning. Write what you hear from your body, environment, dreams. Practice "echo mapping": after conversations, draw what you absorbed that wasn't said out loud.
Suggestions for digestion — Pause when you feel an urgency to over-explain yourself. Ask what is beneath this. Process over-explain in a non-verbal way.
Libra Rising: The spark is ready to take form. What has been growing inside you is moving from the idea stage to material expression.
Questions to be curious about — What parts of you are afraid to create "imperfectly"? Notice if there's a voice that says your art needs to look a certain way or serve others before serving you. What would it feel like to create just for the pure joy of expression, without needing it to be "good"?
Get creative on how you are absorbing — Start a "creative impulse log"—capture every urge to make something, no matter how fleeting. Set a timer for 10 minutes and let your hands create without your mind interfering. Practice "material dating"—spend time with different art supplies and notice what your body gravitates toward. Draw a dinner table, and place it with everything that “you bring to the table”.
Suggestions for digestion — Before creating, place both hands on your sacral chakra and ask: "What wants to be born through me today?" Honor your creative cycles like moon phases—sometimes you're planting seeds, sometimes harvesting. Trust that fallow periods are part of the creative process, not evidence of creative death.
